Drivers side window stuck =(

Hi, Just got my new (to me 10 years old) car, the drivers side window stopped working for no apparent reason (luckily it stuck in the up position). Have looked in the bible but only advises on slow windows. Does anyone have any ideas?
On a + note my first day of driving it resulted in the biggest smile i have ever had, my wife decided she likes it after all (the car!) and I have sunburn on my head!

Would be worth checking for breaks where the wiring passes between the body and the door, also check the switch. Ultimately you may need to get inside the door if that is where the problem is, but I suggest you rule out the easier (to fix) alternatives first.

have checked between body and door, cant see nay problems there, when i press the switch it makes a small click like its trying to open the window but nothing happens. Need to take it in to the garage in a week so i guess ill live with it till then and let the experts look.

If you can remove the door speaker, you should be able to access the wires inside. You may find that one has fallen off - it's worth checking with a multimeter to see if any power is present at this point....
