Everything is fine, but just wondered how you can tell if a big bill is imminnent? Same applies for the cam shaft... she's only done 38k, and 95% of that has been an easy life... any thoughts?

Oh, and aren't you just loving the sunny weather??!!

The clutch would be quite difficult to check, as I don't think you can see much through the
inspection hole in the bottom of the bell housing. If it's not slipping what's the problem?
The cam shaft if worn may be detected with a compression test, otherwise you need to take the plenum chamber off and the valley gasket and take a very close look at the cam shaft lobes.
Then again SOD it and go for a blast.
I think if I worried about what might go wrong with my Chim I would never take it off the drive, So enjoy your car the, more you drive it the better it's reliability, all IMHO of coursedriving
Cheers
Paul.

That's my attitude to this, no problems with her, and I have to agree, the more I drive, the better it gets!

Although not this weekend - London marathon so watching the cricket on Saturday, and then plodding the streets on Sunday... doh!

If you want to look after your engine, change the oil and filter regularly. 3k oil changes seemed to help the life of the cam in my old Chim - which past 80k on the original cam and is still going strong.
