boot solenoid access
Discussion
Having managed to open the boot lid on my 2000 Chim,(Thanks Big Al
) I still have a problem with the solenoid, I can hear a ticking but no actuation of the catch. How do I access the solenoid, to check connections etc? Is it via the removal of the catch itself.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Rich, just had a look in mine and it appears that if you remove the rear light covers and prise of the central carpet cover there are a couple of access holes underneath, you may get access via these.
Just a thought.
I would suggest in the first instance (before carpet removal) that you get someone to operate the boot release switch, and have a listen inside the boot. You may be able to locate the solenoid by ear.
I'm running on empty now, pure guess work from here on.

Hi Rich, It appears I was on the right elimination path.

On mine it is inside the boot between the n/s/r lamp and the number plate recess. To get to it you need to pull up the carpet starting from the bottom left hand corner and it reveals a hole where the solenoid lives. There are two wires on it, one (orange/black on mine) is live from the switch the other is earth. Hope this helps.
