Just a question as to whether I have a problem, or whether I should leave well alone. Car is a '95 Chim 400 pre-Serp with PAS
First one is a funny "rotating rattle" noise when the engine is cold. If I spray a little mist of WD40 around the PAS belt (can't get the place more specific than that), the noise stops. Looking at the main pully vs PAS pump pulley, they are misaligned by around 5mm i.e. the belt is not running in a perfectly straight line. Are they all like that i.e maybe the pump bearings are going, or are they normally perfectly aligned, in which case aligning them may solve the problem. What its hot, there is no noise.
Second one is drivers door. Problems with mirror switch and/or joystick. Want to remove door card (yes, I know, a world of pain and tetanus injections) but on removing the speaker, the window motor is almost directly behind it so that I would need triple jointed forearms to get in the hole, up and over the motor and back to the rearmost bolt. Are they all like this? If I try and unbolt the motor, will I just regret it even more?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi Iain
Not sure how I could get behind the pump as the coolant header tank is in the way. I've had another fiddle tonight and it's definitely the PAS pulley/belt - directly sprayed WD40 onto it whilst running and the noise magically stopped.
Guess I need to take my courage and start taking things to bits........
Thanks

With regard to the door cards, you have to wind the window up and put your arm around the back of the window motor, not over the top. See the following for more details:
