CLUTCH OR GEARBOX PROBLEM

please help. chimaera 4.0 year 95. crunches a bit when putting in reverse. also now and then jams in gear in 3rd and hard to take out of 3rd to change gear. when in 3rd loss of acceleration and goes very slow. is thìs a clutch or gearbox problem or something else.

Crunching into reverse is perfectly normal, drop it into first to spin the gearbox internals down before selecting reverse.

Stuck in third gear may be a worn selector or something as silly as low oil level in the 'box.

Loss of acceleration and going slow sounds like a completely separate problem and you haven't said enough to show whether this is a slipping clutch or the engine losing power, hopefully not a slipping clutch.

What happens to the revs when this loss of acceleration occurs?

when change from 2nd into 3rd i try to accelerate but there is no gain on revs. then very hard to change out of 3rd gear

If it won't rev that's a throttle problem surely?

Are you shure you are not putting it into 5th instead of 3rd?

all gears and acceleration is fine,but now and then when i change into 3rd gear i lose power and it stays at low revs no power when i put my foot down.also when i go to change out of gear it jams and very hard to get into another gear.then its all fine again,does it sound like no oil in gearbox as i dont think it is the clutch?it feels like its not in gear properly but it does drive at low revs with no acceleration.i dont like the feeling of not being able to sellect a gear when changing down from 5th gear,i have to keep trying all gears and false it in,but its only happening once or twice a journey.please any ideas.thanks
