I have a rattle / patter on the back on the car . I have removed everything out of the boot , check with hood up and down , disconnected the ARB , checked all bushes and they were all tested on Friday at MOT while i watched . Its not on power or off power and diff bushes o.k , spanner checked all nuts and bolts on rear suspension, wheels off , fuel filter not touching or rattling and connector to fuel pump not hitting lower wishbone . Really quite stumped its only over certain kind of bump i.e the ones for slowing down into a 30mph zone. I have even jacked slightly each wheel whilst on axle stands to see if there is play when slight load but nothing . The cars has only done 22,000 miles shockers are not leaking ?. Odd !.
Even checked the boot release and made sure the boot sits on its rubber seal.

Exhaust mount catching and rattling exhaust against the bottom of the body? Small child under the offside rear wheel (you sure it was a speed hump...)?

It could be the shocks... albeit you say they aren't leaking. If they have air bubbles in the fluid it can sound like a mechanical knocking noise. If this is the case you would expect the noise to get quieter the longer the car is driven.

It could be the float in the petrol tank if it happens when the tank is low on fuel - mine rattles to remind me to fill up!

Thanks All, I will check for pebbles , not the exhaust as i have been through all of that , have thought about the fuel tank sender ,i did think of it possibly being that.
I may also swap the rear shock around to see if it moves worth them . Cheers
