Vacuum unit Refit
Discussion
Bought a vacuum unit as old one was broke checked tonite to make sure it's the same one which it is.
Looks like you have to remove the dizzy which worries me abit.
You can see 1 screw but can't seem to access the other.
Serpentine engine.
I have had some advice from a fellow PH user but can't email him back for more advice and he says the job is not to difficult.
Any one replaced the part?

How odd! I literally did this job yesterday.
You don't need to remove the dizzy, the vacuum unit is held on by 2 torx screws about 40degs apart around the circumference of the dizzy. I also took the cap and rotor arm off along with the plate held in by 3 screws just so I could see what was going on. All you have to do is undo the 2 torx crews (mine were only finger tight anyway) and unhook the vacuum arm (this moves downwards to unhook it) There is an insulator (black rubber) that you need to remove and swap onto the new one. Then you re-attach the vacuum arm by locating the hole on the peg in the dizzy body. And then screw the whole thing back up.
Simple!

Done it 1 screw was a git to undo and redo.
Started the car but not drove it due to the amount of wet stuff this weekend
Noticed the engine revved free'er sure it was'nt my imagination.
Looking forward to a drive in the dry.

I used to replace them, well on the Rangies i did, but its only being used on partial throttle to improve MPG. Not a great help in a TVR and in many cases, much smoother low revs running without it( not used it for 9 years in the Griff). Bit late for the info though, now you have done it !
