Hi all,
I will be in the market to purchase a TVR Chimera within the next 12 months, I have been a TVRCC member for the past 12 months doing my research.

The one quetion I need to answer is:

How many 'Fuller Men' are driving Chimera's? I am 6' 1" and 150kg and do not want to sit in peoples cars without buying them and need to know if anyone out there is in the same situation or advise on a max.

I can just fit and have driven a Tuscan, but will have a Chimera budget and want a V8 post 1997.

Any advice will be appreciated even if I have shed some kg's....Even on engine size for my size.

In my persoanl experience you will fit quite comfortably, but will probably have the seat ajusted as far back as it will go. I carry a tad of excess weight ( well quite a lot actually laugh ), but fit very comfortably in the Chim, and have completed 500 mile trips on a day without suffering.

Go along to your local TVR CC meeting, you are bound to find someone who will let you have a sit. Alternatively, a few of us will be at an evening track session at Brands Hatch in a ocuple of weeks, you will be more than wlecome to try mine for size (but alas not on the track )

I am 6'2" and 108kg - you are fine for height , no idea about 150kgs but dont see it would be a problem.

That's 330 lbs or a little over 23 and a half stone. I think there was a thread on this before.....

If a chimera is not big enough an S definately is- I'm 6'5 and 18 stone, I have plenty of room to play about in. I found a Chimera slightly more snug when i test drove and opted for the S.

You should fit in the drivers seat of the Chimmie without much discomfort!

I was around the 25 stone mark when I tried one on for size and a very broad build (think strongman type build ) and had no problems at all!

Snug, but not uncomfortable

Now the passenger seat is a different story alltogether hehe

You fat bastard Dave Note to OP. Dave has his Nitrons set to hardest and highest settings at the rear.

Height is not a problem, weight/width might be. At less than half the weight (low 70s in kg) of the OP and 6'3", I find the Chimaera relatively snug for width because you're sitting so far off-centre and close to the door (due to the big transmission tunnel/chassis) compared to a normal steel monocoque car. This is mirrored in the seats which aren't especially wide either.

Apart from that, in the OP's case I'd definitely invest in a set of seat mounting brackets from Tower View Racing which will bolt your seat to the frame instead of just to the fibreglass!

A good friend of mine is the wrong side of 20st and 6ft3 and virtually as broad as he is tall! When he sat in the passenger seat, the length was a problem, but he managed to close the door (poor hinges) But then there is less leg room in the passenger side compared to drivers. - Should be more than enough room for yourself. Go buy and have fun.

Hi all,

Thanks for the quality feedback.
I do endeavour to be a little less in the 'Strong Man'/'Fuller Man' build to get more enjoyment outy of the car, but accept will never be an athlete.
I have wanted a Chimera for years and will own one, even if I need to shoe horn my self in or reinforce the floor!!

Thanks for the tip on the seat mounts, I will look these up.

Thanks again,
Yan
