Mirror seals

Hi guys,
Got back to Southampton from Fernies without any mishaps and everything is still fine, touch wood. Just a quick question about the finish of the mirrors where the metal collar goes into the door. Should there be some sort of rubber shroud or grommet to hide the metal collar or should it be exposed.

There should be a black plastic shroud.
