my chim has never leaked but recently went to watch the racing in very wet weather and the roof has started dripping water in. Any solutions peeps? (other than not driving in rain and that isnt an option).

Fortunately I haven't had this problem (yet!), but a friend did and he re-waterproofed the roof (I believe using AutoGlym product?) and the problem was solved . Good luck!

I've used the autoglym and has seemed to work very well. It restored the colour and made water beed off the roof far more effectively. About £20 for a kit containing spray cleaner and restore/waterproofer.

Saying that after getting in my car after a week of leaving it exposed to the large amounts of precipitaion we have experienced this week, the drivers footwell was soakedconfused Shall have to investigate further tommorrow (during breaks in the test match)

mine is leaking through the join where the roof panel inserts into the gap. its never done it before. I am wondering if it has some thng to do with the work I had done on the rear, perhaps it has scewed something. Would that seem feasible?

Hi Nicky,

Can you tell me which AutoGlym product your pal used and where you got it from. I am going to have to do my roof as I dont think it has been done in years.

Cheers

Aidan

wavey Hi Aidan - have just emailed him to find out exactly, will post as soon as he replies. (Although I reckon someone will probably manage to post all the details before I get back with it! wink).

Most of use use either Fabsil (tent shops) or a version of Thompsons (B&Q - but not sure which version of waterseal). These are very cheap & last a long time.

Rubber lube or vaseline should only be used on the rubber seals - I think it would be a bit messy on the roof material..

He used Autoglym, it was a two part process, clean then re-proof - cost about £20 he reckons. He went on to suggest checking for rotten stitching whilst your at it. Hope this helps smile.

It's fine on the edges where the roof meets the top of the screen and where the rear portion seals against it. Stops annoying creaks as well as small leaks.
