Not my car but a dark blue 5L, R reg that I've been aware of parked in it's regular space, nose against a wall, in a north London public car park for at least the past year.

This car park (pay machine) is near a local grocer/newsagent I use and , over this time, I have assumed the owner to be a local commuter as there's a tube station within a 5 minute walk.

This evening however, I noticed that the rear numberplate had been torn away from it so I parked in the next bay and, for the first time, had a good look at the car. Much as the bodywork/paint/ hood appear to be in good condition, all four brake discs are very heavily rusted, the tax disc expired 07/03 (!) and there are at least 3 parking violation tickets stuck to the front screen.

You can appreciate that I don't want to divulge the exact location of this abandoned car but if anyone happens to recognise it, and knows the owner, please alert them to the fact that it may possibly be crushed anytime soon.

Please note, due to work restrictions, I can only access P/Hs late of an evening- so cannot respond to replies during daytime or early evening

How sad. I hate seeing cars neglected / abandoned, especially ones that have Character. Someone must be able to save it!

you should try to claim it, perfectly legit if it has been abandoned... obviously you'll have to pay the fines etc..

Hi guys, back on line. The above is somewhat ironic as yesterday I tried to imagine why someone would abandon this car and it fleetingly crossed my mind that the owner parked it there one morning as usual and may have been involved in an attrocity. Then again, he/she may have had a heart attack/stroke or industrial accident that day and next of kin would never know where the car was parked.

It certainly looks to have been a cherished car as it has Leven stalks etc. and the paint and hood are pristine. Why then condemn it to an increasingly zealous council's fate? I would much rather it went to someone who could keep it on the road and cherish it.

Yes, the front plate is stil in situ- is it worth contacting DVLA? Though from what I've read, 25% of their info is wrong at any given time. My mother in Glasgow got a letter this week from them confirming her re-registration of her 2 year old Astra to a dealership in Wiganrolleyes

I'll drive past this Chimaera tommorow and see if it's still there..

Meanwhile, the point of the original post was to ask you to rack your brains to see if you possibly recognise the car and think you may know the owner.

this is a very real possibility, like i said set the wheels in motion and get it claimed! even if you don't succeed and there is a rightfull owner/next of kin you'll have done them a great service smile

if not i know if it were me i would rather my pride and joy go to another enthusiast rather than get crushed or some scote claim it!
