Having had broken aircon for the last xx months I've decided to tackle it and get it working. I'll start by saying that historically, the aircon in my '99 Chim has worked VERY well, definately getting the cabin down to the point where you want to turn it off before you freeze....

Recently it's been more like: turn on aircon, no difference in temp... A number of leaks were found and are all believed to be fixed (new condensor and pipework and new drier). The condensor has been pronounced as "working well" but the system only drops the airtemp by a couple of degrees - a tiny improvement!

The aircon guy thinks there may be "back-pressure" caused by a "blockage in the system", and suspects the "expansion valve" which is near the heater box.

Can the PH-collective express any opinion on this or recommend anyone local-ish to Cambridge for an opinion and cost-to-fix?

TIA!

Can't comment about the air-con, but have you spoken to the guys at Offords? They know TVRs so may have some experince to offer you, and are close to Canbridge (at least if you avoid the A14!)
