Don't know if anyone has experienced the same problem, but when I fill my tank with fuel the air is not venting properly hence causing some sort of fuel starvation. This means having to wait for sometime before I can drive any distance........and having to leave the petrol cap off to allow the air to escape. Any suggestions please?

I think the system is supposed to vent through the carbon (?) cannister somewhere in the engine bay. The fuel filler cap is supposed to seal IIRC.

As miniman said, do a search on carbon canister (though I don't think it's easy to get to). I've seen some people say that they don't fully tighten the petrol cap, though this obviously isn't fixing the problem.

It is usually that the fuel vent cannister has a tad of water in it. It is located near the air filter and can get doused with water fairly regularly. The other thing that can affect it is over filling the tank as the cannister is connected to the return the top of the fuel filler.

I have taken mine off the car and left it in the house for a few days to dry out. Stinks the house out with petrol fumes so best to do it when nobody else is likely to be round (except dedicated petrol heads).
