Hi,

A common problem I believe is the stitching around the back window coming loose. Well mine has done and there are big 4-5 inch + gaps in the back window.

I wanted to try to find out from you guys if there was anywhere in Yorkshire (preferably East Yorkshire) that repairs TVR hoods or hoods in general.

Any ideas because I am stumped?

Not sure about East Yorks, but search on Yell under Car & Commercial Trimmers & Upholsterers and that should provide you with a list.
There are several in West Yorks. The 2 names that keep cropping up appear to be
Trimcraft, Spring Hall Works, Spring Hall Lane, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 4TW Tel: 01422 344266 and A.S.Pickering Springfield Works, Springfield Place, Bradford, BD1 3EZ, West Yorkshire.Tel:01274 724000. Web site is
http://www.aspickering.co.uk/index.php
WhoeverIf you call any of them, ask if they have experience of working specifically on TVR's, as you may know the hoods need to be removed to do a repair, and the hoods are a sod to remove.

If it's just sections and you've some patience you might think about having a go yourself.

I did my side flaps/velcro with some rot resistant thread, the biggest needle in the packet and a pair of pliers. Saved a few quid.

Although if one section has rotted the remainder probably isn't far behind. If the rest of the hood is getting a bit tired you might be better just biting the bullet and getting the hood replaced.

I had a similar problem, and was quoted £200 for re-stitching by a Porch agent in Loughborough for a 5 inch stiching split !
When I had a service in Doncaster they arranged an upholsterer to do the same job for £110 - so I suggest contacting
Advanced Automotive Developments 01302 350000 (they advertise in Sprint, and are 4 miles from j4 of M18)

I re-stiched mine myself with some extra strong black thread, and largeish needle and a pair of pliers. Took about 2 hours to do all along the top of the screen. Made my back ache for a day or so after though! I will eventually need a new roof I think, but this repair will make it last for another year or so.......
