RESET ECU MISSFIRE
Discussion
can anyone say if disconnecting the battery has the same effect as disconnecting the ecu plug for reset purposes .just got the brake disc issue sorted and it has now developed a missfire at 4000 rpm and above somtimes(rarely) it clears its self when accelerating. also it seems to draw back/miss when coming off throtle any suggestions anyone.( i have renewed plugs leads extenders and coil.)
Yes, disconnecting the battery will have exactly the same effect as unplugging the ECU, although unplugging the ECU is simpler to do.
My favourite starting place for any misfire is the rotor arm. It's not normally a good idea to diagnose any problem by substituting all the parts that could cause the problem, as you could spend a lot of money on things that didn't need doing, but it seems quite a lot of aftermarket rotor arms don't work very well, plus it's relatively cheap and worth having a spare to carry if it turns out not to be at fault.
