3000 miles in 9 days
Discussion
Just returned from a 3,000 miles trip through 8 different countries. From Amsterdam to Germany, Austria (Grossclockner), Italy, Slovenia, Kroatia, back to Italy (Garda lake and Lake Como), to the Stelvio Pass (3,000 metres to the top on video), Switserland, back home. First 2 days the weather was terrible. Drove 600 miles through the rain to the South of Germany. After the first 2 days the top went off and never came back on.
Was in love already with my Chim. Now it is permanent. What a drive, what an experience. No problems what so ever. No questions here about reliability. Good preventive maintenance is the key. Have been insulted many times during the trip for a Maserati owner, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. Especially in Germany and Italy TVR seems very unknown. Only British and some Dutch know of the brand. Never want to trade it anyway for the mentioned makes. The fun and exclusivity factor of a TVR is uncomparable.
So make that European trip with a well prepared Chim and you will have the time of your live. Also the wife enjoyed it, which is not unimportant for repeat purposes.
Take care all.
Regards,
Hans

I must have been very close to you. I have just come back from 10 days (2500 miles) touring Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the Italian alps in my Chim 450. I have to report one seatbelt failure - it still worked but wouldn't retract - and a cracked windscreen (not the car's fault).
The car was a pure pleasure to drive, as were the fantastic alpine roads. This was my second trip to these parts and I will definitely be going again.
