Wishbone Woes...!!!
Discussion
Was tinkering around yesterday withthe last wishbone wich for some reason i had just left at the back of the garage....anyway took a sander to it to clean it up and give a hefty coat of hammerite and just as i was about to start painting i noticed a pin prick sized hole!!!
So being curious i gave the wishbone a soft hit with a small ish hammer and the hole ended up big enough to put your finger through...on two sides...!
The other wishbones still had powder coating left on them and this one was bar far the worst out the lot.
Now i am after a drivers side front lower wishbone.
Prices have varied from £98 - £150!!!
Anyone know of any cheap ones????
I am going to make a jig of this one prividing it is straight and might make a couple...!

Drivers side, front lower, thats £98 and then you have to buy the bushes on top!!!Prices have varied from £98 - £150!!!
Waiting to hear from Douglas Valley or bell hill for a temp solution.
could always weld up the old one....
I bought a front upper last year with bushes fitted and it was £65 +vat.
I need another top and a bottom front, are you sure that these prices don't include the bushes.
As TVR are no longer in business, so is anyone making these as a side line or will none be avaliable in a couple of years time.

A cautionary note if you buy a new one (edited from one of my previous posts):-
When you receive the wishbone it would be worth doing a trial fit with the ball joint. There are three small tubes welded into the wishbone to locate the ball joint mounting bolts. I found that the innermost tube is protruding too far through the top of the wishbone. If I had just assembled them as they were, the ball joint would have been canted outwards at a silly angle. I ground the protruding tube so that the ball joint sat pretty well flat on the wishbone. Also, check the wishbone for water traps. I found that there were gaps between the wishbone arms and the welded-on reinforcing plate which were plenty big enough for water to get in, but wouldn't have been big enough to get powder-coated internally. They would have started to rust from the inside upon the first contact with water. I filled any gaps with Sikaflex, then painted the entire wishbone with Hammerite, making sure that I got a thick coating inside the 'pointy end' that's pretty much inaccessible once it's fitted to the car. It was also an absolute bar steward to fit, as (with poly bushes fitted) it was too wide to fit between the mounting brakets on the chassis, and also the shock mounting lugs were too close together.

Hi Andy
Okay. I have a pair of lower front wishbones from a late low mileage TVR that I have had bead blasted and primed. They have very good bushes in them and there are also bottom ball joints for them.
I've left you my phone number on the e-mail so if interested give me a call tomorrow evening.
