How often do you have to top up engine oil on your chim? Mine doesn't seem to be leaking any when parked, so can only assume it is burning some. Is this usual, and how much does yours burn per mile?!

Depends on usage - 1 litre over 3000 very hard miles in a week on last years furball. Other than that I rarely have to top up between every 6000 miles and the services.

about 1 litre every 1000 miles . No leaks, no smokey exhaust I guess it just eats it ! Of course I do drive it like its stolen whenever I take it out....

Edited to add: Its done this for the 3 years I've had it so I dont worry about it any more

Another question.... does anyone know how much it takes to fill from the min to max mark? Don't want to overfill!

Thanks,

Tim..

My Griff used about 2 1/2 litres of Shell Helix 10W40 over 1000 miles when I had it ..... and I began to worry !

I was told to try changing the oil to another make/grade. I took the advice and moved onto Silkolene 10W50 - and the 'problem' was cured .... it went down to about 1/2 litre every 1000 miles, if that !

Just showed me what a difference some oils make. Interestingly, when I used the exact same grade of Shell Helix in my S2000 it drank loads of it as well. Moved onto Mobil Super S in my current S2K and it hasn't used a drop .....

Thought it might be a litre. I shall have to keep an eye on it and maybe try a different oil at next service - seems to be drinking the stuff! had to top it up with about 3 litres over the 2000 or so miles i've done.

Thanks,

Tim.

I've put in around 1 litre over 1000 miles too and have also been recommended Silkolene 10W50. Going to try some of this next.

about 1 litre every two weeks on average use. Subject to the weather and I use the Landy more in the winter.
