I appear to be developing a thigh muscle like the incredible Hulk, mainly due to a heavy accelerator pedal on my 97 Chim.
Can anyone give me some advise on how I can sort it.
Thanks

Could be the throttle cable fraying and sticking inside the cover. If so it is about to break and it would be agood idea to get it replaced before that happens!

How many springs do you have on the throttle return mechanism in the engine bay?

Some have one strong spring, some 2 weaker springs, some 1 spring, the usual fit-whats-left-on-the-shelf stuff, anyway if you're running on 2 springs, maybe you need to remove one and see if that helps...

Mine had 3 springs on it when I bought the car. I'd be forcing myself back into the seat before reaching full throttle - rediculous. I reduced it to 2 springs and now it's still frim, don't want it too light, but much, much better. 2 minute job, piece of wee wee.

My heavy/stiff throttle was just some dried up muck in the cable.
probably from where it sits at the back of the engine slowly being cooked.
I disconnected the cable at the engine end and squirted wd40 onto the inner cable, then pushed the inner cable in and out a few times, more wd40 more pushing, more wd40, pushing, etc, etc, until it was nice and free. clean off any excess muck and wd40. then i did the same again but with a thin oil. left the cable tied to the bonnet so the oil could run down the inner cable as far as possible. connected it back up.
Job Done, light and smooth loud pedal again. smile

I had the three springs on mine and took it down to two, makes such a difference.

i had the same heavy pedal symptoms, turned out it needed changing and now it's all good. PPC in melton did it for me - they always do a good job :-)

Mine had 3, but left it that way... useful in winter months if it's a daily driver IMO...

Always amuses me how people say they're a "man's car" then complain about a heavy clutch / throttle pedal...
