power steering
Discussion
I know this has been tackled before from a drivers point of view but I was wondering what anyones experience with their "other half" has been if you don't have pas on your Chim. It's just I've got my eye on the '99 450 on James Agger's website.
Failing that, anyone got an approx cost on the conversion?
P.S. The wife said it shouldn't be a problem for her because her old Saxo didn't have pas!

Why not convert it to electric power steering and have the best of both worlds!!

Simply turn the adjustable speed control knob to a heavy setting for the men, then turn it back to a lighter setting for the ladies lol
Btw, cheaper n more reliable then a shonky ol TVR power rack aswell lol
Plus you get the added bonus of no bhp loss !!

My first Chimaera, a 99 had power steering which gave me nothing but trouble, 3 times to a main dealer/specialistover 2 years, each time for between 3 and 5 weeks and never managed to successfully fix the leaky seals. In fact, the 2nd time it was supposidly repaired It didnt even last the 100 mile trip home from the garage before it dropped fluid over the drive.
I now have a 98 450 with non PAS and it is fine, the only difference really noticable on slow manouvers but not too heavy, helps maintain upper body strength.

Thats just plums that dont know how to service reseal a power rack, the quality of that unit is no worse or better than say a ford/rover/vauxhall unit yet people seem to cock them up too,tearing/dragging seals on assembly is the usual cause(bloody cowboys)I now have a 98 450 with non PAS and it is fine, the only difference really noticable on slow manouvers but not too heavy, helps maintain upper body strength.
