FAO Dash change peeps...
Discussion
i'm just changing my dash to my leven on finaly and i've got stuck... i've got the dash out and am transfering the lights over however the MIL light and ingnition light have the LED's glued in... i've tryed scrapping as much glue off as possible but they won't budge
i don't want to go too bad and break the legs to the circuit board!
can i use something to disolve the glue without damaging the LED? or am i best to unsolder it and resolder it on the new dash? or any other ideas?

I had exactly this problen when I fitted mine. I had to replace the ice sensor light, MIL light and the (!) light. Pain in the arse, but what can you do? I bought replacement ones from maplins, 10 mins of soldering and Robert's yer auntie's live in lover! At least the boards are well marked so it's easy to see where the + and - legs go.
Look at this page...

You want part no. YH72P, which is a C2 red, in the table it states that a c2 is a 5v 3mm cylindrical jobby. Don't forget to solder the resitstor to the +ve leg of the LED (long one).
For info, when I did my Leven dash putting in the new LEDs was stupid tight - broke one, good job I bought 2 of each!

just one thing were is the resistor? these seem different to the others and just appear to have wires going to the LED?
I think you can only get them on line. Also, the resistor is a tiny little thing already soldered in line to you existing LED (to the long leg). It is within some heat shrink. My point is really, to make sure you don't inadver... inadervert.. inadverten.. oh sod it - don't cut it off by mistake!

I'm having a bloody nightmare changing over the mountings from the old small radio panel to my new Leven one. Currently on attempt 2 - first go simply wouldn't fit back into the gap properly and the radio wasn't aligned properly in the hole. It's all rather heath-robinson, isn't it!?
Miniman,
When I did mine, using two way G clamps (they can push as well as clamp) I pushed the dash panel against the screwed in and ready glued brackets, checked the alignment & left 'em over night- Robert's yer auntie's live in lover. You can then unscrew it again to fit all the knobs and switches if needed.

Damn fine idea, wish I'd thought of that yesterday! Have re-glued the brackets and a test fit suggests it's much better. If I have to remove them again I will definitely try that method. I think part of the problem was not letting the glue go off enough before putting strain on it so the brackets were peeling away a bit. When I did mine, using two way G clamps (they can push as well as clamp) I pushed the dash panel against the screwed in and ready glued brackets, checked the alignment & left 'em over night- Robert's yer auntie's live in lover.
