Hi I have just recently brought my 1st TVR, Its a Chimaera, Although very pleasd with it I would like to do something with the front brakes. It has got 17" khan alloys on it so there is plenty of room behind the wheels.
The current brake calipers dont in my opinion seem man enough for the car and would like some better braking performance. I have read somewhere that i can upgrade them with Ford parts (cosworth) maybe?
Can anyone tell me if this is the case, or do i really need to spend loads of money on TVR parts?
Appreciate any help you can give me.
Regards,
Trent the 'bushtuckerman'

I Have WMS 4 pot billets and grooved 285mm rotors on mine, they look much nicer than standard items, i bought the kit from ebay, a couple of PHers have done this conversion and it was reasonable too. Cant remember the guys name but there was a helpful chap on PH who was the vendor of said items, just searched on ebay and there are no matches currently.

Coupled with stainless brake lines the braking performance increase is substantial too. let me know if you want a piccy put up on the thread.

I've just rebuilt my standard calipers and replace the disks with aftermarket (same size), after a disastrous time with Mintex Xtreem pads I now have Red Stuff C pads, so far it's working very good.

BUT

If I was going to do it again I'd use the TVR Car Parts 238mm kit on the front and do the same as I have done on the rear. http://www.tvrcarparts.com/pages/partdetail.asp?id...

I've just uprated mine to the Hi-spec ones posted above from TVR Car Parts. They are 285mm grooved or drilled discs with greenstuff pads and 4 pot calipers. I also replaced the back discs for same size and new pads. Overall its made a huge difference. Much more power, more feel, and more stability presumably due to the brake bias being more to the front. Got great service from the guys at TVR Car Parts too!

Edited to say - they look cool too! Available in a range of colours

hi, i think the conversion you are after is 2wd Ford Sierra Cosworth 283mm front dics with 4wd Sierra Cosworth front Calipers.
I think you can get caliper spacers which would allow you to keep the original caliper while using the 283mm discs.

Yes, I think the Granada Cossie & 4wd Sierra Cossie shared the same caliper. What I meant was that, if you wanted to save the expense of new calipers, you could use the existing 240mm/260mm caliper with the new discs if you got a suitable spacer.
