I know of fancyplates but they take ages to deliver and due to a producer and little pink slip I now have to get some 'normal' plates pretty quickly. Anyone know where I can just pop in and have some made? Halfords didn't have a clue...

Halfords should be able to create them as a walk in. I got my plates from www.demonplates.com and they delivered free of charge 48 hrs after ordering.

Zippee, give this bloke a call (other than faffing around on his website):
http://www.craigsplates.co.uk/

I got my last rear plate from him and it only took a couple of days.

I would give fancyplates my vote... My housemate works for Halfords and when I needed one he rang the Halfords plate supplier and was informed that they are actually illegal on every car except certain years of TVR and a couple of kit cars and so they don't bother making them. A lot of police and M.O.T testers do not know this and I did have the MOT tester ask me if the plate was legal when it was last tested. So due to no one local being able to get the plate, I went for fancyplates even though I had heard they could take a while... I was proved very wrong though as I ordered them mid-afternoon on the Wednesday and they arrived Thursday morning which is pretty impressive given that they come from Ireland! My set cost £35 IIRC and consisted of a 3/4 plain plate for the front with a small TVR logo bottom center, and a standard size backlit plate for the rear which again I kept plain apart from a small TVR logo bottom center. They look great, were a good price and came bloody quick so top marks to Fancyplates! thumbup

Thanks guys - just phoned Demon plates and ordered a set.
£33 inc p&p for a backlit with GB logo and a std front plate cut to 3/4 to fit the lettering.
PITA though but I guess 2 1/2 years on my current plates wasn't too bad without a stop.

I got one from Parts Express too... but not as I ordered it! I didn't have any joy at all with getting the problem sorted and I don't know whether they're still trading as the phones ring out all the time, their website has been removed and they didn't respond to any of my e-mails? (Hopefully this wasn't against the name-and-shame policy?)

Must've been earlish '98. My 450 has the tilted, top lit plate and the round separate lights. It's May '98.
