Hi,

New magenecor leads have just arrived (with connectors), is it just a case of going through them one by one and matching them up by length (assuming they are all different lengths)? They are numbered, but the existing ones don't seem to be numbered anywhere (think the heat has melted off the stickers!)?

Thanks

Chug

When I got mine I refered to the bible which shows which one goes where (Good detailed pics etc).

So they matched one for one size wise?

For god sake don't just go yanking off all your leads and trusting to the bible.
There was a guy with a Chim in Le Mans who one of my mates did this to when trying to solve a problem and the car wouldn't start again when he put it all back together - despite checking cable positions with the bible and my numbered spare dizzy cap.

It turned out the dizzy had been put back 180deg out !
So mark at least one of the existing leads, or better still photograph your engine bay, before removing anything.

No they are not all the same size.
easiest way if they are not numbered is replace one for one.

If you don't have the 'bible' you might not know how the cylinders are numbered. Nearside bank (passenger side) are number 1, 3, 5, 7 (1 being at the front of the engine). Offside bank are similarly numbered 2, 4, 6, 8 from the front of the engine.

Your new leads will be cut to length. Start with number 1 and find its position on the distributor cap. Then either replace them one by one, or follow the firing order: 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2 going clockwise around the distributor cap.
