Hello,
I'm Manfred from Germany and I want buy a Chimaera 5.0 after I sold my S7 last week. I driven the 5.0 for 6 years and it was gerat. Now I find a Chimaera 5.0 55000mile, first reg. 1997 from a dealer. I know about the rust problems on thr frame, but what is with the engine. Sometime I heard that they make problems. The car got all service. Must I sorry about the engine?? Perhaps somebody knows this car (dealer side below)

Hi Manfred.

Your English is far better than my German that's for sure.

I have a 5.0 and had a 4.0. I've owned V8 engined TVR's for almost three years without major problems. The engines are an old design and have been used in one form or another in just about every vehicle you can think of. Spares are plentiful and relatively cheap.

They are ok if looked after and more reliable than the S6 which seems to be responsible for most of the unreliabilty stories.

Hello again,

no any other informationes about the engine?
How ist the acceleration from the Chimaera 5.0 compared to a Cebera 4.2 or a Tuscan?
Who have experience with this?

Best Regards
Manfred

my chim 500 taraka was much less "urgent" than my cerb 4.5. The cerb was more like a rocketship and the chim was a cruiser. Different type of engines.

but is it a big difference in a speed area from approx- 40-120 mph? I think the torque from the 5.0 engine is a big advantage.

Best Regards

Trust me! a cerbera will out accelerate, out brake and out handle a standard chim 500! But the chim is cheaper to run and a soft top!thumbup
