Hello all, just been to my garage to fire the car up, as not been driven for a few weeks and the battery is flat!

Now the car has the leven mod that gives the battery booster connector in the engine bay...BUT the other end is in the boot!!!!

So, if I can get in the boot then it should just be a case of connecting it up and jump starting the Tiv..

There must be a way in to the boot....

The car doors are open and all that (luckily) as I leave them slightly ajar in the garage just in case!

DO NOT ENTER HERE!
sorry for the edit.. Big Al.

email me (PLEASE!!!)

Thanks

Lee

People won't post the answer on here. Mail somebody who knows you for the answer.

Can't remember, but is there a clue in the handbook that usually lives in the cubby hole behind the seats?

Connect an external 12V supply to any electrical point on the car, and operate the boot release as normal. The battery in the passenger's footwell is an obvious place to connect to. I don't have that luxury because on the V8S the battery is in the boot (yes it has the same electric boot release!) so I've used the main power terminal on the back of the alternator to apply enough power with jump leads to pop the boot.

If you get really stuck then you can apply 12v directly to the boot release relay socket and operate it that way.

It would be very difficult to open your boot with a dead battery - too heavy and blunt - try a crowbar instead.

Any kind of connector placed in the front under-tray is worth its weight in gold for these odd occasions wink

I'll bow to your experience re the battery Jigs, you must have had a plentiful supply of those £40 072's to try with I imagine biggrin

Thanks for all the help everyone, going to give it atry tonight hopefully, failing that I guess it is just a case of connecting a 12v supply and trying that!

eeeeK! Never leave the doors open, as the interior light will drain the battery (apparently the doors only need to be slightly ajar, without the light on, and it'll still drain). I'd just leave a window open if anything.

Can't help with getting into the boot I'm afraid, as I never needed to and never did work out how!

Got the plates and cert by the way, so thanks for that!

Good luck!

And even if you turn the interior light off i believe I read that there is still some current drain through the alarm because the doors are open

Its just as easy to leave the window (or even hood) down as leaving the doors open, isn't it?

Am I missing something here ? Doors are open. Battery is in the passenger footwell. Open door. Attach charger to battery. Job done.

I think he's saying that half of his booster kit is in the boot, i.e. the bit you'd normally attach to the battery is stuck in the boot.

(I did exactly the same thing myself - took bloody ages to get into the boot!)
