h i,last year i used renovo on my roof of my chim.i ended up with a stripe down the middle of the roof so i cleaned it tried again stripe comes back so i left it.i dont have the roof on much anyway.last week i tried it again, stripe comes back, washed it,spoke to renovo, washed it left it tried again.stripe comes back.so in a mad moment i wire brushed it.i now have a tvr with a mohican.how much is a recover or should i leave it dye the mohican a different colour and stick some safety pins a zips on the car and be a bit punk.cheers.
Cheers, hopefully it will look better with the respray...i am doing it in a black pearl...it goes from black to a very deep cherry red....
Taking the mohair off and painting is quite a lot of work...the fibreglass is quite rough underneath so you have to do a fair bit of preparation. But once it is done you dont have to mess around with protecting it.

cant rearly see what renovo does ,i thought the carbon fiber is water proof daz
Imagine spilling water on your kitchen side and mopping it up with a paper kitchen towel. You'll notice that if you hold the edge of the paper towel in the water the fluid travels up and along the paper. The same thing happens with the mohair material on the roof. If the material is not waterproofed the rain will soak the material and and spread out travelling along the material, around the join with the header section and drip down into the cabin. In addition the rain water on an untreated roof might cause the adhesive to deteriorate quicker. I think most good waterproofers help protect the colour of the material against Sun bleaching too!?!?
jayzcycles,
The stripe on you roof might have been a reaction of the Renovo with something already in the material. My roof panel always used to have what looked like an oil patch in the middle of the material... No matter how much I washed it it never came out. I'm sure if I'd used the colour dye on that material it wouldn't have taken on that spot.
There is a roof re-covering page via my profile or on The Griffith Pages if you fancy doing it yourself... or I think you can get it done for you for around £200 or so IIRC ?
