Probably a stupid question...

Just fitted a recored radiator. When using the same hoses, is it best to:-

- use the same position as the previous jubilee clip (where the hose is now indented)
- use a "fresh" position nearer the end of the hose
- use a "fresh" position further from the end of the hose
- not worry about it as long as it doesn't leak!!

Also, is the bit of the hose that is indented now weaker than the rest and less inflexible?

Thanks

Alex

I would use option 1, providing that the hose is fully on the in/out pipe. Make sure that the clip is positioned over a 'round' section of the rad pipe - on my car, one of the pipes was slightly oval and the clip had been fitted at this point, resulting in a leak..I repositioned the clip to a circular bit of pipe and all was ok.
Option 4, if it currently applies would also be ok!

Hi Alex

Is there any spare so that you can trim the indented part off?

Use two clips one behind the origonal, if there is enough room.

I would also use option 1.

If the hose is at all perished replace it. They fail suddenly & spectacularly...
