I have a 1999 (V) Chimaera 500. What is the best oil to top up with??????

use 10 40 semi synthetic remember is a 50 year old engine 10 80 is to thin the older v8 like the mgb uses 20 50 thanks

they recommend Silkolene Pro S 10W-50 for my 1998 450. About £10 per litre. Watch out for offers. Last one was buy 5l and get 1l free.

I've just bought one ('99 Chim 500) and had the same question, mine's been using Mobil one motorsport 15w-50 and it seems to run a treat on so can't complain. Also seems to be the one they recommend on the opie oils thread although he also recommends the silkolene 10w-50 too.
