Have searched and aint come up with much.

My ecu keeps falling out and i cant find a good way to locate it securly above the battery. I have aircon so apparently it wont fit down the side.

Do people just shove it all in and let the foot board hold it in place? Or try and put the relays down the side of the battery, is it best to put the ecu plug closest to the seat with wires aimong at the near side curb?

Any hints appreciated coz its really friggin anoying !

My ECU is stowed between the glove box/knicker pouch and the bottom of the dashboard tucked nicely out of the way of any stray water that may find its way inside the car, the only thing i havn't found yet are the two silver relays for the fuel pump/ecu, i can only assume they are in the dashboard somewhere.

You dont say how old your chim is so it may be different to my '97 450 where the ECU slots nicely down the left side of the battery

The aircon in my '99 Chim prevents sliding the ECU down the side of the battery. I had mine in front of the battery but apparently tiny quantities of water can track through the bulkhead and hence down into the ECU connector thus corroding the contacts.

I've got mine on top of the battery with the wiring loom in a coil above it and the relays down the side.

bigdods, its a '97.

The thing is the whole setup looks rather delicate and i hate forcing it anywhwere. Between stressing that a wire is going to snap / pull out of a connector, and that the ecu itself will short something, i really rather hate going anywhere near the battery box !

i will try the other suggestions, but if anyone has a picture of a nice tidy way to do it - id appreciate it !

I've fitted a small piece of hardboard on top of the battery for the ECU to sit on - without it, when you pull back the carpet to get at the battery you run the risk of the (metal) ECU case touching the battery terminals which I kind of assume is sub-optimal.

I am very much a fan of the Hilti-gun and garage wall method hehe

i am thinking of going down the megasquirt route...but instead of having the ecu in the passenger footwell i was going to put it in the recess behind the drivers seat and possibly mount the fusebox behind the passenger seat...

I know it doesnt help you, but it might be something to consider?

For a while mine was in front of the battery, because it used to knock the cover out and fall on the floor. Recently I had a look at it and worked out that it wouldn't lie flat on top of the battery because the fusebox is in the way, nor would it fit beside the battery because the aircon recirculation flap is in the way. So I worked out that it would go in at an angle. The bit of wiring loom with the injection relays in is in the space to the left of the battery. The other bit of loom (to which you'd add the 'hot start' mod) is on top of the battery, on the right of the picture.

Is it only certain models that have a rubber boot on the cable entry to the ECU amphenol connector? I thought it was essential to prevent damage to the wiring... Do you have some other mechanism on that version?

It had loom tape around it up to the plug case and the whole thing was then taped together but I had to cut it back to get the connector open to do some running diagnostics.

I was meaning the big rubber boot, can't recall seeing one missing before was all. I dont think its to keep water out but to stop the cables being stressed.
