hi everyone,
I'm after a bit advice,

I'm currently trying to get my MS ecu up and running, but the problem I'm having at the moment is that when i connect it to my laptop and all the gauges are on screen, it is showing that my throttle position sensor is fully open all of the time.

has any one had this problem before?

cheers,
Adam.

Check the wiring to the throttle pot and check the pot on its own on a meter, sounds like its shorted out somewhere or the pots duff or you've got the wrong pins connected

hi Matt,
thanks for your help,
I've put a test on the wires, the ground is fine, pin 22(TPS signal)and pin 26 (TPS vref) have a constant 4.95 volts (no matter how far down i press the throttle) and when i do an ohms test on pins 22 & 26 i get variation of 6.25ohms (throttle closed) and .40ohms (throttle open).
do you know if these are the readings i want?
cheers,
Adam.

The readings sound a bit screwy the throttle pot is normally 0-5Kohms, disconnect the pot from the loom and test just that first, if thats OK then you've a fault in the loom

hi dave,
when i started this about 4days ago i had a head full of brown hair,
now i'm nearly bald and what hair i haven't pulled out is now grey.
the only thing i've got left to do is to sort out the trigger pulse for the injectors,
a few people have helped me out tonight so i should have it sorted out tomorrow. if your thinking of doing this, when i'm done i'll send you a list of what wire goes to what pin on the lucas loom.
this is something i wish i had before i started.
as far as setting up goes, there are some base maps on the net that will get you started, then about 3-4 hours on the rolling road will get it perfected. but apparently all the bother of doing is well worth it.
i'll keep you posted.
cheers,
adam

I would advise making up your own loom when doing this, even if you use an old RV8 loom as a basis. That way you know exactly what goes where, and can swap back/forth to test. You can also do it over the wing rather than in the confines of the footwell. It may sound easier to tap into the existing loom, but it is fraught with uncertainty.

Yes big thumbs up there Spend,my intentions are with that one over the winter months, i can then copy my version over to my brothers Chim(pis*ed off with the dreaded low speed lurching)my car is getting used as the guinea pig,how did i draw that strawconfused

or get an old lucas box cuts the guts out of it so left with just the pins then solder new megasquirt loom to it. Then its so easy to convert back thats how ive done mine. I have a another spare box here if anyone wants to go down the same route.
