I've had the Chim checked out for water coming in to both footwells. 'All done Sir, that should do it' (TVR Indie). But still the rain comes in. I use her regularly so it is not possible to know whether the water is coming in only whilst on the move or when standing still.

Is there a fool proof way of dealing with this? The smell of rotting carpets ain't so good!

I got about 3 inches of water in my footwells on friday - rain not flood water. Found that Fabsil on the foor and hood and re-silicon sealing the windscreen sorted the problem. With stood a massive downpour yesterday completely dry.

John, try checking all the cables and wires that go through the bulkhead and make sure they are well sealed with Sikaflex or similar sealant.
Also check the black cover under the bonnet that hides the clutch master cylinder and the 2 pipes that go through the inner wing are also sealed.
Check any bolts for the windscreen wiper motor and bonnet stay are sealed and where the VIN plate is riveted to the top of the wing have all been gunged.
Lastly check the windscreen rubber seal is well glued down where it meet the screen and body. This was the cause of my leak as the rubber had come away from the body on the near side causing a wet footwell.
Hope this helps.
Paul.

Wow - that is a useful reply Paul. I have a similar problem on the Drivers side. I'll try your suggestions for sealing the car rather than relying on towels and the airing cupboard!!! My rubber seal around the windscreen is definately loose in places - what glue would you recommend? Don't fancy putting Superglue on it...

Paul - sorry to be a pain but which Sikaflex product do you use? Just done a bit of a google search and there are a few to choose from...

Cheers,
James

Sikaflex 291 is the stuff.
You'll find it at most boat chandlers and you'd be surprised how many of those there are around AND they are nearly all open Sundays biggrin
