Did TVR do a normal and HC version of the 4.0 in 1999? Ie. how do I know what engine its got as the salesman says its the 235bhp but I thought it would be 275?

Appologies if this is a dumb question... Cheers

Forget the quoted figures - a good 4.0 should make around 200-220 Bhp

Thanks for the comments, so the engine in a 99 car will not be the HC?

What model does it state in the handbook?the Hc as HC written on the removable chip in the Ecu,dont pull this apart unless your confident to do so,double valve springs are another givaway but you will have to remove one of the rocker covers,it should also be badged on the plenum but that is open to dodgy previous owners/dealers.

I must admit, I thought it was only on the earlier cars...

If you really what to know what it's pushing out, get it rolling roaded...

My Chimaera 450 (V8D MC1 cam) was RR'd at 275bhp...

The Griff 500 (standard) is a very strong one... and further north than that! smile

yes

Mine was RR'd at 179 at the wheels (pre-upgrade) and I was told thats a 'fair' score. Add 15% for a flywheel figure brings you out at about 206.
