Waiting for my bible to show up and I"m having a heck of a time getting the door trim off my 1999 Chimaera. I want to lubricate the window mechanisms and make sure the passenger one isn't fouling the speaker wires. I've found 2 nuts that I've removed - but the others are causing real grief. I've lost about a pint of blood in the process it's a good idea to tape cloth around the speaker opening before shoving your arm in.

Anyone got a diagram or can you describe where the trim is fixed to the door?

Cheers

Matt

There is a topic on chimaera pages about window speed increase... without removing the trim. Worth a look there before you lose any more blood

Search the threads, theres a topic on it with pictures, I did it 2/3 months back, maybe search under threads I've started/joined. Sorry, can't do it now at work !! Theres 4 nuts in total, last couple at arms length, hopefully you've got skinny arms and elbows otherwise don't know how you'll do it !! (apart from loose more blood !!)

I'll give that a try but I think the window may have come out of the runner on the passenger side as I can time it on a calendar (and it makes a really horrid noise).

One final question - I don't have ashtrays - I'm assuming it's just a case of removing the 4 bolts?

Yep, pretty sure. Mine has ash trays but I don't think they came into play. Can't find that damn picture, definately on here or on a website somewhere !!

I've been searching like crazy - I might try and get a shot of where the bolts are when I get the curseing thing off.

Here you go, a picture of the door cards from the back.

Yellow arrows show the location of the self tappers (you won't have the one in the top picture as you don't have ashtrays). Green arrows show the location of the M10 studs in the card. Red arrows show the holes through which the M10 studs go.

You're both legends!

Explains why I couldn't find the damn things!
It's going in to have a new windscreen tomorrow - so will have a go when it's back.

Perfect! Got the door off - refitted the window into the channel.
Any tips as to which type of glue to stick back the plastic sheeting inside the door?

A thin layer of Evo-Stik or Bostik, the rubbery carpet-type glue. Except I didn't have any when I put mine back on, so I taped around the edges.
