No deal.
Amend your search to increase the distance to 40 miles from your postcode, set the maximum mileage to 40k and you will see three possibly better alternatives.

Whoah that's expensive - I paid a few pennies less than that for a 99 450.... last year!

Way,way tooooo expensive. It`s a buyers market,as a dealer he can sit this on his pitch hoping for the naieve punter to wander alongsilly
As the buyer you`re in a great position to deal, decide what you want to spend,go see a few and be ready to walk away if you don`t get the deal you want.

Thanks for the comments guys. I believe it is well over priced but he has had a lot of interest. I have shopped about and this car is the best in terms of condition / looks / mechanics. What do you think I should realistically barter him down to?

Depends on how long he`s had it..but I doubt you`ll beat him below£10.500/£10750..you might win a parts and labour deal but you`re still paying over the odds for the age of the car....
..but what the hell if you like it buy it,it`s a special moment, and when you drive it away and a few hundred here or there won`t matter a jotthumbup
..I`ve never regretted spending too much in comparison with spending too little.laugh

No deal - If that is your budget then I would look around and get something a little more recent, at least a 98 (or later) facelift model.

Also, why the complete respray and non-standard wheels. Arguably both could affect the value slightly (downwards).

My 400HC, same age, same miles, was £9k from a dealer in Feb this year. I'd keep looking.

At the end of the day - it’s not all about price. It’s about what you receive in return. I know I could by a car that looks the same on paper for circa £8.5K. But when I'm driving down the high street in town on a hot summer day with my beautiful wife in the passenger seat, this car will look stunning.
Alternatively, I could well buy a Chimaera that had a crap boring paint job, had black old mans leather interior, and those crappy looking standard 16" wheels that every other Chimaera on the road has. This one is different, it stands out, it’s different, and it’s got the X factor.

To hell with it - I'm going in feet first guys and striking a deal tonight. Will let you know the outcome.

P.S. She drives like a dream. PURRRGGHHH

Liberation all round!!!!

Yeah, but that's a big premium to pay for something you're not going to be able to do until next year...

I was thinking that to be honest. Having said that it does look like a bloody nice paint job.

I dont think the OP is going to listen chaps - you know what its like, you see it and you want it, regardless of the sense of the purchase.

I'm pretty sure all Tivvers know this urge - lust, I believe it is termed!!lick

Yeah, that's true, I ignored all advice at the time and bought the first Chim I looked at (but for the right price wink ) and I'm well happy with it.

yes we do know that urge. I'm 54 ( how did that happen?) and bought my Chimaera last year for well over book, if based on year - and it was the first one I really looked at. Do I regret it? Not for a moment. Every time I turn the key and hear that . . . . .
