Hi, I've been looking at the woolies site and saw an ad for the old asbestos type tape stuff for wrapping round your exhaust manifolds. It seems a no brainer if you want to reduce under bonnet temperatures, any experience out there?

I've seen a few other threads on this.
The main concern seemed to be that it would push the heat further along the exhaust and potentially cause heat issues elsewhere.
More heat in the car and around the gearbox etc

Having said that, here's a few i found smile

Removing the precats makes quite a bit of difference too, make sure the timing isnt retarded that will do nothing towards lower underbonnet temps if it isconfused

Ive exhaust wrapped our MG with noticable difference achieved. However, I've since been informed that this should only be done to stainless steel manifolds, or cracking could result. So far so good though !

I'm sure I read on here that rust can be a problem on original exhausts when you wrap them. The manifolds just corrode underneath the tape and because you can't see them you don't realise until it's too late...

I have took the pre cats out which does help a little, then Ive wrapped the Y piece with cat in that heat proof wrap. Have not got that back on let, used it in my rs turbo though and really worked well.
