Will this be an engine in or out job?

No you can do it with engine in, im just doing mine at the moment. Worst bit was getting the manifolds off, after that a few hours and there off.

forgot to also mention lots of swearing, tools thrown across the garage and multiple cuts.

Good luck

Neal

Thanks there,

Glad to hear it. Mine is in the local garage and they weren't sure if it was an in or out job.

ETA to ask: How difficult is it to get the parts?

The taking apart bit is usually the easier part of the whole operation(in my experience) and with three sheared manifold bolts (both sides) I'd got it in my head that I could drill and tap or possibly Helicoil them in situ. Then I woke up and realised my coffee was cold and the chances that I'd manage all three without ****ing up at least one or all was in a minus scale. So the big question is 'how easy is it to get the heads back on in the correct fashion with all necessary adjustments and tolerances being met'?
I've got a fair bit of spannering experience gained from playing with Tornado's and Phantoms and sundry cars in the past ,but I aint attempted a V8 before. Is it a feasable driveway job and what if any special tools are needed?
Oh and if the heads are off would it be a good idea to do a cam check/change if needed?Lots of questions I know but I'm sure you guys won't let me down.
Good luck with yours by the way. Ta.....................

Garage recon about £600 if it is an engine in job.
