I think I might have an airlock - there's a funny 'whirring noise behind the dash when the temp gets above 70 degrees'.

I get hot air out of the blowers and the cooling fans work correctly.

Is it easy to bleed? Still waiting for my bible to turn up anyone got any instructions?

Also once up to temp there is a 'faint whistle' when accelerating away all the way until the noise of the exhaust drowns it out. Tried to hear it when stationary but can't (too noisy in the engine bay). I've tapped the stepper motor (I don't *think* it's that).

The whistle when on the throttle could be the idle screw on the plenum - give it a quarter to half turn clockwise and see if it cures it.

Tried the screw (oh-errrr) and no joy - think it might be around the plenum chamber seal - anyone know if the plenum is attached with a gasket or sealant?

The plenum to base joint is just sealant, if anything. Also while you're there check all the air/vacuum hoses, if one of them has a crack in you could well have a whistle. One way is to get a can of WD40 or similar and spray around where you thing a leak is, if the whistle stops for a moment after you've sprayed you've found the leak.

Cheers Iain, leak found and eliminated with sealant.

Was it the plenum then?

Yeah very much so! In about three different places. Sat there with it on Sunday took it from cold to fans about 6 times - each time chasing the whistle until they went.
