OK, so my battery is officially dead, on trying to remove the nuts from under the car they just seem to rotate (with the bolt attached) so I guess its angle grinder time.
Can I ask the people who have done this, do you think I'll get enough room under my car just using a standard 2 tonne trolley jack (my ramps are way too steep).
It will be my first time with an angle grinder so any other advice would be good, I'm used to power tools but just haven't had the need to use one before.

Cheers,
Rich

Cant you get a nut splitter on it ~ much quicker & easier than grinding close to f/g..

Nice idea, never used one of those either, have you had good success with them then Dave?
something like this...

(that new local Screwfix is going to bankrupt me!)

It's a bolt I believe, so a nut splitter wouldn't work!

I'd fire up the grinder and just attack the middle of the bolt a little at a time.......

There the jobbies (there are better quality ones I'm sure - but they do the job) 3 or 4 turns after carefully positioning and off they pop! Surprisingly quick to destroy nuts wink

Bolts on mine too, I used mole grips and a junior hacksaw.

Lock the molegrip on the bolt heads pulling them downwards, cut thread with junior hacksaw, piece of cake smile

Shouldn't need to put it up on jacks, I think I just reached under the car (it was a few years ago, so I could be wrong).

Do be careful though, because the bolt will get very hot and could melt the fibreglass.

Good luck.

Neil.
