Distorted roof ... and dust covers
Discussion
On arriving at Rockingham, and replacing the roof noticed that it doesnt quite fit properly on the drivers side...slight bulge outwards.. guess it must have distorted in the boot with stuff piled on top. Its not significant, but wondered if anybody else has had this trouble, and is it easy to rectify?? now needs a push side on before knocking the strutts up.. On a second note, can anybody recommend a good quality dust cover for indoor use??
Thanks,
Karl.

The perfect pink cover for any discerning Chimp owner

I'm sure the others will be along soon with some ideas, bit of a hold up on the 15th at moment I'm told

No, Ian, Jolly nice and helpful chap. Unlike his comrade in arms FFG who is a beer swilling, can't eat breakfast after a night on the beer, PITA. Who is probably going to be either dead or wishing he was when I tell Deb you just called her a Chimp Chimp Lover

Hi, I've worked with glass kevlar, carbon and the like for a number of years now,the Chim roof is a wet lay-up glass roof with a layer or two of carbon cloth put down as the first layer/s on the inside skin(or at least mine is) this is not to be confused with a genuine autoclaved pre-preg glass or carbon item. The most likely cause of your problem is heat distortion. This can occur if a wet lay-up panel is left in one place for a lengthy period of time subjected to both heat and abnormal loads ie stuffed in a hot boot with god knows what piled on top of it. This can also lead to de-lamination especially if there are 'resin dry' areas in the panel. One way to check is to get someone to hold onto to one side with you on the other then try to twist the panel,if you hear a scrunching noise then it's a de-lam.A fix may be to inject the area affected with poly resin and rig up a way of holding the offending area in place, but its unlikely you will get a perfect finish without the original mould to act as a forming jig..
Sorry,I just re-read your original post,I reckon that if you were to heat up the roof (hair dryer poking through a hole in a big cardboard box) then apply a reversing force to the twist or distortion, then allow to cool keeping the opposite force in place , you may be able to rectify the problem. It'll be a bit of trial and error to get it spot on just dont allow a 'direct' flow of hot air onto the panel and dont try to 'gorilla' it back into shape. Best of luck.............

Errrm... well, if the roof isn't cracked / broken anyway, how's the windscreen fitting these days?... Bottom edge seal look OK? No new and unusual small gaps anywhere...?
