I'll confess immediately - I'm a Tuscaneer - but have been reliably informed that this is the forum for the advice I am seeking: I have an early 03 Tuscan and the near side indicator lens is cracked - my indie was unable to source a replacement when it went in for its service in June. Any idea where I might pick one of these up/cost and what the procedure is for fitting it?

ps Is it really from a tank confused

thanks.

I've seen them for sale on e.bay from time to time. I bought some clear ones for the Griff some time ago from Peninsular. They came with the bulb holder and electrical socket which you don't need (neither did I). I know that the lenses can be sourced as seperate items though and I think I remember them going for about £8 each.

I guess the way they fit is the same: You have to bond the lens into the front of the bodywork first with a suitable silicone sealant/adhesive. Once that has set then the bulb holder screws into the back of the lens; use some silicone grease on the thread to keep moisture out and make removal for bulb changes possible. Connect the wiring plug last.

If you get stuck and it's orange ones you want then I can let you have one of mine.

Has anyone ever confirmed that they were/are fitted to a chieftain tank? They are fitted to some military spec landrovers and several types of trailers etc but tanks??????.
Orange ones are available on ebay, do a search for "military indicators".

If it has Vickers or Alvis on the bonnet then yes; the bulb holder is the same but the lens is a different contour. Cost me about £20 to back this out of the shed for you lot. Remember I've got a three litre to crank up before I can get the main motor fired up. . . . and that's almost twenty litres of vertically opposed ten cylinder multifuel two stroke turbo diesel courtesy of Mr Leyland!

Recognise this electrical gubbins? And yes, even Alvis APC's have problems with the chassis rot worm! wink
