i am aware that my cam is ready to be changed as my tappets is very noisy ,i was running on a very thin 10 60 oil fully sinthetic.i have now put a valoline vr1 20-50 racing oil in my engine and i can not beleive the difference ,the car seems to run better and the tappet noise as been reduced .i was told by a certain company who rebuilds these engines that its a very old engine which is designed to be run on 20-50 oil
Opieoilman says (in question to a chim500)...
"The VR1 is quite a good oil, however the 20w is not ideal for cold start....10w or 15w would be better"
I had it recommended to me by a couple of 'knowledgeable' people and so far(touch wood
)can't complain, certainly seems to run well for it.
Might be worth speaking to a few other specialists?

I'm confused, I had thought that *HOT* 10/60 should be thicker than 20/50? The 10/60 would be better for cold starts though.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
