I have recently bought a Chim and am getting a few bits and pieces fixed up. One of the things on my todo list is to replace the velcro on the bottom of the hood behind the doors;.

Can anyone advise if there is any specific type to get hold of or whether black velcro is the same wherever I get it from. Secondly, what recommendations are there regarding gluing the stuff onto the body. The current stuff is pulling away. As I'm getting the paintwork tidied up in the same area, I don't want to use anything that will react with the paint.

The final thing is that I need to look at the headlights - the beam pattern is poor and the reflectors look slightly corroded. Are there any good quality alternatives to look at or am I stuck with the conventional lamps.

Many thanks in anticipation for all your advice and suggestions

I've tried a number of different glues over time and they all seem to work..... for a while.

I find the hot melt glue probably the best overall.

I replaced my original headlamp glow-worms with Bosch units and it is a huge improvement - the bulbs that you fit also make a difference, There are a number of threads on P-Heads that are useful.

Thanks for the reply Spud,

Is the Bosch lamp unit a straight swap for the original part.
One option i looked into was an HID lamp unit from a Porsche 993 but I have a feeling that the wing would have to be modified heavily to accommodate rear of the unit. Just looking for easiest options

I thought the velcro on the bodywork was also pop-riveted?

I've had pop riveted and just glued. Depends how careful you are with the ears when lowering the roof I suppose.

Unless you drive in the dark a lot you might find that cleaning the interior of the headlamp glass and relector does the trick. In typical TVR fashion they are actually open to the elements and mine were full of dirt and dust.
Do NOT use any sort of cleaner on the relectors as you will remove the silvering. Wipe very carefull with a clean damp J cloth (available wifeys cleaning cupboard!)
