Paul

When I had my Chim and I (ahem) overtightened it after cleaning and snapped it off, I went to Land Ranger Services for one - got it for around £60 if I remember correctly.

Seemed to be the same unit

I closely looked at how uniform the travel of the piston / cone was on an origional and Ebay unit as the ECU pulsed it, and there is no visible difference what so ever. I found at the weekend when I was swapping ECU chips that one chip would idle steadily, whilst another would be all over the place, as the fueling was slightly different between the ECU maps. It does not take a lot to knock the whole Idle control setup out of balance. Things like fuel pressure, ignition timing, air leaks, wrong base CO etc etc can all cause idle problems.

I understand what your saying but what i can't get my head round is the huge price difference.
I bought one from ebay faulty from day one the seller replaced no arguement!
Second one appears to have failed after a month.
Hunting and when starting goes to 2.5k revs dropping to 900
Maybe these units are seconds that would help to explain the difference in price.
Looks like i'll have to bite the bullet and buy the LR one at least i can eliminate this PIA
Cheers

Bought a stepper motor off MM4x4 £67
YIPPEE
Problem solved not hunting and when you start the car it goes to 1200 rpm then drops to 900.
When driving and deacellerating revs drops and stay there untill i press the pedal again.
Result!

FWIW now you have fixed it, but Dream Machines charged me £65 for the part + labour for removing the broken stub & fitting the new one after I did Coach's trick and snapped it.
