I have been looking for some car ramps that I can get my Chim up. Has anyone got any of these, or know where I might find some?
I have found these in the UK
http://www.restorationramps.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/ramps?opendocument&part=3 which are v.expensive, and these in the US
http://www.discountramps.com/low_profile_car_ramp.htm
which I am enquiring about postage costs.
I am half tempted to find some scaffolding planks and make my own.

These might be worth a look - costly again though!

Oh.....I see these are mentioned on the Restoration Ramps site so you have probably already seen them.

You can do just as well with some scaffolding planks. Even better is to get the car up on to some stone blocks, then remove the ramps- the ramps cut down on your ability to access the car.
If you have the space, scour ebay for proper ramps- I put in a 2-post car lift last year and it has been VERY useful. You might need 3-phase though.

I have a big garden, it's tempting to dig a pig pit and use it as an inspection bay
It could be dual purpose and act like a pool when its sunny
not that it ever is

after some hunting a found a set at an independant motor factors that gave a longer lead up than the std and works fine under fromt and rear of the chimaera. Adding a few locks of wood at the front leading upto the ramp also help, as long as secure

When I was looking for ramps I found this: Mustang World Ramps
They aren't cheap-cheap to make (just less than £100) but are strong and stable, very easy to use, and the car has less tendency to roll backwards. They are also in the "spirit" of a Tiv in that you already like spannering, so should enjoy making them!
I'm still thinking about adding some kind of handle to them, to aid carrying.
And the only tip I'd offer when driving up them, is to count the "rises" to make sure you don't push off the top!

Following on from this thread I took the plunge and bought a set of levo-artis ramps, cross bridges are in position under car which will allow further lift to allow wheels to be removed, these can be left off.
It was best option for me taking into account lift, weight and storage, sad though it may be it may be a pleasure to be under the car cleaning and painting the chassis on the next occasion.

More pictures here if you are interested.

Them levo-artis ramps look great
, do you have to jack them up each side abit at a time?. or do both sides lift evenly together.
Iv looked on the web site and it sayes you can operate the jack with a drill attachment but it doesnt say if you need 2 drills and 2 people to do it!.
this little baby could be just what im looking for.

iv found another
one that looks very inviting. it is the "12f restoration system" at www.restorationramps.co.uk , this one gives a better working hight
of 63 cm ( 25 inch) and isnt much more money.
This ramp buying is becoming a head ache

Each side has to be wound up independently, They are developing a trolley jack lift system, which should make the lift quicker.also another option at http://hamercarlift.com/
