Noticed the last couple of days a few spots of oil under the car. Only had the car a couple of weeks, oil pressure is good and level fine. Have only being doing short journeys at the moment.

Will obviously monitor things closely and try to find the cause of the leak. Is it anything to worry about at this time or normal that there is a slight drip of oil?

It's a big floppy aluminium engine that flexes a lot, and yes small leaks are common. As long as it keeps leaking you know it hasn't run out. smile

Hi Paul,
As others have said, slight oil leaks are not something to worry about....just don't listen to dealers who suggest that it's coming from the crank seal and that such leaks should be sorted before they contaminate the clutch...and while you're about it, you might as well have the clutch replaced at the same time...and that'll be £700 please sir!

(BTW - I didn't take up their offer, and five years later, I've still got that £700 in my pocket!)

Getting close to £100 an oil change for decent oil, its not really something you want to be losing a lot of though IMHO.

A good oil leak helps keep the oil fresh! Isn't it a bit like a very slow oil change? !! laugh

There's no reason for this engine to leak oil.

I hate oil leaks, it makes a mess in the garage, it makes a mess on the drive, and if it gets on the exhaust it smells.

I know of loads of RV8's that don't leak any oil at all, mine included.
Bet i could find signs of oil leakage on your RV8, Quinnytongue out oil weepage is ok, oil leaksnono
