Hello fellow pistonheaders!

Just bought a private plate for my '96 Chim. Can anyone recomend a place to buy the new plates please.

Preferably someone with a website as I am out of the country at the moment and would like to have them waiting when I get home!!

Cheers

James.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatly I can't get that website to work - it just comes up with part of the front page and hangs.

Do you know of anywhere else?

Just tried the link and it worked OK, might be worth another go......

I don't know of anywhere else although there have been other threads re this subject, perhaps you could try a search?

Cheers

Thanks Neil

I have just tried again through google and it works!

Are there any legal issues with having a 'fancy plate'? I would like to have the TVR border with a slightly different font.

Thanks again

James

Try your local TVR dealer. Hawthorns sourced mine for me and the price was extremely reasonable as they gave them to me free of charge, the nice chaps.

Loads of legal issues I think re font and spacing.

Unless you go for a completely standard format the plates you buy are technically signs and you choose to put them on your vehicle.

In practice it probably depends on how "standard" the finished article looks........

I had a border and TVR logo put on mine and I am happy with it.

When I got a private plate it came with a note from the DVLA about how to have your plates made up. Upshot was that as long as the spacing wasn't messed with to make the letters/numbers look like something else it was OK. Ironically it said NOTHING about typefaces/fonts. The copper that stopped me was most bemused when I had mine made up with a non-standard typeface and he stopped me to give me a ticket and I produced the note from the glovebox !!!
