Hi All

I would like to clean up the rocker cover on my chimaera, and would like some advice on how to do it safely. I did a search and read the differing posts on it. I was hoping to use a brush to scrub it and wipe it off. I don't really want to start poring water over it. Will this work?

Has any one got a before and after photo of their attempt?

What are you trying to do - clean the grime off, remove corrosion, polish it, paint?

Well it currently looks a kind of dull grey almost like theres a layer of crud on it. I was hoping to clean it up to make it look a bit more presentable.

That sounds like corrosion, which is easy enough to polish off once the rocker cover is off the car (not hard to do) but will be difficult to do in situ.

sounds like i should leave it till winter. I currenlty have a working car and the weathers pretty good. If i start removing bits who knows where it will end (probably with a mechanic knowing me).

I've just been polishing the odd bit under the bonnet (sad I know) and was thinking exactly the same thing, let me know how you get on.

Ive been thinking about getting hold of a pair from a breakers, polishing them up and swapping when the winter comes. Yesterday I put some carb cleaner on a toothbrush and it got rid of a lot of marks/crud
