I am thinking of having cherry bombs fitted to the exhaust, does anyone know of someone on the southcoast who can supply and fit them? I live in Lymington and dont fancy driving up to Offords to have them done.
Also could they be bought and fitted at home?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Lee
I have a sports exhaust with Cherry Bombs sourced from Tim at ACT.
Had to wait a while for delivery, but I’m very happy with the result.
The exhaust is simple to fit. Any local garage should be able to do it.
You would need to order exhaust mounting brackets and rubber grommets. You can get them from R.T.Racing in Sheffield.
Cheers
Simon

I had an ACT Performance exhaust with Cherry Bombs fitted.
I think you can have the bombs fitted to an exisiting exhaust. I've no experience of this, but Offords name keeps cropping up in relation to this subject.
If you replace the whole system, you can source the mounting brackts and rubbers from RT Racing in Sheffield.

It is possible to put cherries on the original exhaust I would have thought but it would be a bit of a ballache unless you wanted to put them inside the old backbox... IMHO you'd be better off just ordering Tim's system from ACT. Firstly, all the brackets and bits are already custom built for the Chim so fit perfectly, secondly it is a whole new exhaust front to back in stainless so will resist corrosion for years to come and third it has a flexi-pipe section next to the sump so if you do go over a nasty speed bump, the exhaust will move rather than bend or brake! Give him a ring and see what he says, you might even be able to buy the cherrys individually from him (not sure where they're from but his exhausts are made for him by JP).

As far as I know, that's a load of rubbish... Well in the case of the ACT system anyway. I spoke to Tim about this before my system was changed and he said his one is designed to give exactly the same back-pressure as the standard exhaust and therefore has no performace difference at all. Then the sports manifolds and decat system he does to bolt on to that actually increases bhp by a few horses (can't remember figures) and retains pressure by using narrow bore pipes. Of course my car hasn't yet been RR'd so I have no figures to back this up but I trust Tim and I know he wouldn't let me buy one of his products if he knew it was going to lose me power!

I'm no expert but I did thoroughly research this before having my exhaust sleeved. Having cherries fitted or exhaust sleeved will add noise but no change in power either up or down. If you remove the precats you will need to replace with a manifold that includes flow cones to retain back pressure or you could lose some power. Not seen the ACT sports zorst, if it includes removing pre-cats and dustbin cat then I assume it includes the required flow cones/restrictions to maintain performance.

Chaning standard silencer for cherries is a cosmetic enhancement only. but well worth it, had mine sleeved now 121db @ 6k RPM cloud9

I had the location problem as I'm in devon. I sent my exhaust to Offords in the end as it would have cost a bleedin' fortune to drive up there, even if I put the exhaust in my humble 406. I looked into trying to do it myself, but the 'bombs are not off the shelf items as I understand. Offords wouldn't sell me them separately either. Well worth the bother though!
