Any ideas anyone? I had a power run done in Jan and all was healthy (220bhp, 230 lb/ft). Recently I had a tornado chip (best guess) fitted. On the power run power was better until 3000rpm then dropped off rapidly to 185 bhp and torque was poo. Fuel was way too rich (9%). Anyone else got any ideas...putting the original chip back in doesnt improve, and with both chips it does not want to rev past 5500rpm??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? airflow meter?

HT leads, distributor cap, plugs, lambda sensors... there's a big list. If you have it on a dyno, can't the guy running it diagnose the problem?

OK - to get you back to the top, and in the offchance that I know anything that might be of help - how about a faulty throttle sensor giving an incorrect reading to the ECU?

running on the dyno is expensive to keep doing it....and a diffenrent person dyno'd the car as to who fitted the chip...thanks for the ideas though...I now have a clue of the direction to head in for starters

It is a lot cheaper than a couple hundred for lambda sensors, 300 for an air flow meter, 100 for ignition coil and module, 100 for a new set of magnecore leads, need I go on...

5500 could be the rev limiter coming in.

I had new magnecor leads fitted at the same time as the chip, so at least thats £100 out of the way!!!!
It's booked in on friday for investigation, so i'll let you know

Of course it could be those leads... never assume that cos they're new they're ok.
....the chip was a best guess, can't the supplier sort you out on a RR

Unfortunately the supplier isn't sorted with a dyno at the moment..so I have to keep going to the local rolling road at £45 a shot every time something gets changed....hopefully it will get resolved soon and I wont have to pay the lot!!

Does the person who's switching on the power to the rollers know one end of a v8 from the other? If not your just wasting £45, aren't you? IMHO bettter to go to a specialist with a rolling road and shell out the readies to get it done properly once.

Maybe i didnt explain it right....
The bloke who does the work is a V8 'expert' but has not got a dyno...and the bloke with the rolling road is a Subaru specialist, so I have to go between the two to ascertain whats working and what isn't at the mo......like I said some proper investigation is being done on friday......I am a bit worried tho cos someone suggested the cats?????EXPENSIVE???

Could it be a worn cam? May be able to confirm by checking the exhaust manifold header temperatures. If not, it's probably something wrong and you probably need an expert to diagnose it.

Panic over!!!! Removed the upgraded 'power amp' to the coil....cured rev problem...but then had it rolling roaded again and found the tornado chip had actually made the torque and power worse
i dont believe it!!!!So...the outcome was that I removed all the upgrade parts (apart from the Magnecor leads) and got a full refund....gonna have to go and see this Mark Adams chap in the flesh instead of having a 'best guess' chip done maybe?
